As many of you have noticed our pond has lowered quite considerably in the past couple of weeks. I had a meeting with the city officials on this topic on Monday August 27th. The information that we were given is as follows:
- The water table for the City of Champlin is usually 20′
- The current water table is just below 18′
- This effects all areas of the city including our pond
- The area has been in drought conditions for the past 2 years and it has started to catch up to us
- The pond has been high this summer due to the construction of Hayden Lake Road and the construction company pumping ground water into the pond during construction
- Now that construction has completed the water table is going back to its normal location
- What is needed to solve this problem is more rain and a big snow fall this winter to “reset” the water table
We will continue to monitor this situation and pass information along when we have it.
